Who, When?
Mark Brown: Lead vocals, guitar
Tyler Crowley: Guitar, vocals
Matt Klimas: Bass, guitar, keys, vocals
The indie rock trio from Richmond, VA, brings together three songwriters who share a penchant for melody. Started by Mark Brown, Tyler Crowley and Matt Klimas, the band is built on the interplay between their unique musical styles and influences. Blending pop, rock, and a hint of alt-country they craft hook-laden songs with tight layers of guitars and lush harmonies. At times anthemic and at others atmospheric, their music bares traces of mystery that both evoke and intrigue.
Louisiana Territory can be found at many of Richmond's musical hotspots like The National, Capital Ale House Music Hall, the Camel, and Gallery 5 where they deliver an energetic show. Their self-titled debut EP from 2008 is followed by their first full-length project in 2009, Traces of Gold, produced by John Morand at Sound of Music studios. During the pre-production phase, they developed a strong musical connection with Morand. He quickly began to draw nuances and arrangements out of the band as naturally as if he were an original band member. The second catalyzing element in the recording process was the introduction of studio drummer, Miguel Urbiztando. His groovy, hard-hitting drumming helped unify the music and took the songs to places not previously thought possible. There began a relationship that continues to grow as Urbiztando is increasingly playing shows with the band in support of the new record.
Having made a solid record, Louisiana Territory is poised to explore every opportunity their brand of memorable rock songs can create. Following the November 13th release of Traces of Gold, they plan to bring their live show to new venues up and down the east coast while continuing to widen their presence in Richmond's local music scene.
Traces of Gold will be available at concerts and online through laterritory.com, iTunes, Amazon, Emusic, etc, November 13th
